“Tomorrow the sun will rise again, and we will try again”

Terry Pheto

It’s yet another new month and as usual, you are reviewing your goals and plans for the year. In January, you wrote down plans to save and start up your own business but there was nothing to save. By February, your goal was to be working at your dream job and earning your own money but you are still turning in CVs to date. Your wedding date has been shifted two times already and the third date is already shifting itself. I just remembered my friend Bimbo who planned to serve in Abuja so she can chill with the big boys but she’s currently wasting 7 months at home and the small boys on her street won’t let her be. The story goes on and on of plans that never materialized.

It’s been a long and eventful year for everyone: the drastic fall of the naira, rising inflation, daily spike in the prices of commodities, high cost of living without a commensurate increase in earnings, businesses and investments folding up, workers losing their jobs, news of attacks, killings, and kidnapping….

In the midst of all of these, you survived. You deserve a pat on the back. It’s a new month and I bring a message of hope in the words of Terry Pheto, Tomorrow the sun will rise again, and we will try again. We’ll stop trying when the sun stops rising. As long as the sun rises, we’ll keep trying.

Cheers to a fruitful month.
